Il soggetto balza all'occhio all'istante: si tratta di una geniale e ironica reinterpretazione de "La ragazza col turbante" (meglio conosciuta come "La ragazza con l'orecchino di perla") di Jan Vermeer.
Il vero colpo di genio dell'opera risiede nella scelta dell'oggetto ready-made. L'artista abbandona i dischi in vinile nero a 45 giri delle opere precedenti per passare al Compact Disc (CD). L'iconica perla di Vermeer viene sostituita da un intero CD specchiato. Questo oggetto non solo riproduce perfettamente la forma circolare e la funzione di punto luce dell'originale, ma riflette i colori e l'ambiente circostante grazie alle sue storiche proprietà cangianti e iridescenti.
Ritroviamo la base a busto interamente ricoperta di glitter dorati e lo sfondo a cerchi concentrici (questa volta stampati o tracciati sul fondo oro), ma c'è un'inedita ricerca tessile. Il turbante azzurro/blu è realizzato con un tessuto glitterato e texturizzato, mentre la parte terminale del copricapo e l'abito giocano su panneggi reali di stoffe beige e dorate, che donano un forte rilievo tridimensionale alla figura.
La silhouette mantiene i tratti somatici originari ma è resa in un nero opaco texturizzato, sul quale i contorni degli occhi, del naso e delle labbra sono finemente delineati in oro.
Girando il quadro, come ormai da tradizione per questo artista, si scopre il nucleo concettuale del progetto: se sul retro dei quadri precedenti trovavamo la musica pop e beat italiana in vinile degli anni '60, qui l'asse si sposta. Incollato in alto c'è il cofanetto originale con un CD dedicato a Mozart. Questa scelta non è casuale: si associa un gigante della musica classica, a un gigante della pittura classica.
Il CD che vediamo sul retro è esattamente la matrice e la controparte concettuale di quello appeso all'orecchio della ragazza sul fronte.

The subject immediately catches the eye: it is a brilliant and ironic reinterpretation of Girl with a Turban (better known as Girl with a Pearl Earring) by Johannes Vermeer.
The true stroke of genius lies in the choice of the ready-made object. The artist abandons the black 45 rpm vinyl records featured in previous works and turns instead to the Compact Disc (CD). Vermeer’s iconic pearl is replaced by an entire mirrored CD. This object not only perfectly reproduces the circular shape and luminous focal function of the original pearl, but also reflects surrounding colors and environments through its distinctive iridescent and shimmering properties.
The glitter-covered bust base and the background of concentric circles (this time printed or traced onto the gold surface) reappear, but there is also a new exploration of textiles. The light blue and dark blue turban is made from a glittered, textured fabric, while the trailing end of the headdress and the garment are created from real beige and gold draped fabrics, giving the figure a striking three-dimensional presence.
The silhouette retains the subject’s original facial features but is rendered in a textured matte black finish, with the outlines of the eyes, nose, and lips delicately highlighted in gold.
Turning the artwork over, as has become a hallmark of this artist’s practice, reveals the conceptual core of the project: where previous works featured Italian pop and beat music on 1960s vinyl records attached to the back, the focus shifts here. Affixed at the top is the original CD case containing a recording dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This choice is far from accidental: it creates a dialogue between a giant of classical music and a giant of classical painting. The CD visible on the reverse side is precisely the source material and conceptual counterpart of the disc hanging from the girl's ear on the front.
